Islamic Matrimonial Guidelines
Guiding our platform with sincerity, modesty, and halal matchmaking principles.
“And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts)…”
— [Surah Ar-Rum: 21]1. Sincerity of Purpose (Niyyah)
The intention behind registering on CeylonNikah should solely be to seek a righteous spouse for the sake of Allah (SWT) and to complete half of one's deen through marriage (Nikah).
2. Involving the Wali (Guardian)
In accordance with the Sunnah, we strongly recommend involving the Wali (Father/Guardian) or family elders at the earliest stage of inquiry. Our platform allows profiles to be managed directly by parents or guardians with explicit guardian contact flags.
3. Modesty in Communication (Haya)
All messaging between prospective partners must remain purposeful, dignified, and strictly centered on marital compatibility (deen, family background, life goals, character). Idle chatter or un-Islamic interactions are strictly prohibited.
4. Truthfulness & Transparency (Sidq)
Islam commands absolute honesty in marital negotiations. Members must provide truthful disclosures regarding age, marital history (previous marriages/children), physical condition, education, and career.
5. Sunnah Nikah & Eliminating Dowry (No Dowry Expected)
In pure Islamic tradition, marriage is founded upon mutual respect and the groom bestowing Mahr upon the bride. Demanding dowry from the bride's family contradicts Islamic justice and the Sunnah. CeylonNikah proudly honors grooms who declare "No Dowry Expected (Sunnah Nikah)" with a special badge, fostering blessed, honorable, and unburdened marriages.
